The Best Instagram Spots In LA

Los Angeles was practically built for the camera, and over the years I've collected a little black book of the most photogenic corners of the city. Whether you're after pastel walls, palm-lined streets, or that perfect golden-hour glow, these are the LA spots that always deliver.

Start with the murals. The Pink Wall on Melrose, the angel wings, and the endless street art of the Arts District give you color and personality in every frame. For something a little more iconic, the Hollywood Sign view from Lake Hollywood Park and the Griffith Observatory at dusk are classics for a reason.

On the coast, the Santa Monica Pier and the Venice canals are dreamy in the late afternoon, and a drive up to Malibu rewards you with cliffside ocean shots. If you love architecture, the curves of Walt Disney Concert Hall and the palm rows of Beverly Hills are endlessly shareable.

My golden rule for LA photos: chase the light, not the crowds. Arrive early, stay for that buttery hour just before sunset, and let the city do the rest.

Where the Light Does the Work

The most photogenic spots in LA are not always the obvious landmarks. Some of my favorites are a particular pink wall, a staircase tucked into a hillside neighborhood, and a stretch of beach that turns gold in the last hour before sunset. The secret is almost always the light: even an ordinary corner looks magic at the right time of day.

I chase golden hour for nearly everything. Show up an hour before sunset, be patient, and let the city do the heavy lifting. The harsh midday sun is the enemy of a good photo.

Shooting Like a Local

A few habits make the difference between a snapshot and a photo you are proud of. Go early to beat both the crowds and the heat, scout the angle before you commit, and be respectful of the neighborhoods you are shooting in, since many of these spots are people's actual homes. A little courtesy keeps these places open to everyone.

Most of all, do not let chasing the perfect shot ruin the moment. Get your photo, then put the phone away and actually enjoy where you are. That is the part you will remember.
